what i find peculiar is... Conan's 'fame' as the Kid Killer... doesn't seem to flow very well through the criminal information networks. wouldn't the 'dark/grey web' be filled with... "watch out for this kid... he's foiled more than one scheme!" or do crooks not read the newspapers?

Bruh. We know it's a filler, but they don't. And people think Conan as intellegent kid, not tough who survives in every situations. With conan being falling fown the cliff and kids saw them. They see what they want to see and think what they want. That is why they lean against more emotional side than logical side. And also Ran being worried is normal because after all the life spent with conan and imagine losing him. You don't immedietely think ah conan should be okay becsuse he is smart. First thing hoes into mind is . What if he is dead. Only people not worrying would be FBI because they actually saw his intellectual point and putting into strategy in action
